Open Spot App Prototype

by Riley Driscoll

Open Spot is the newest parking app that takes the stress and anxiety out of campus parking. Open Spot allows students and faculty to park on campus with ease by showing the user how many spots are open in each parking lot before arriving there.

__

The front page of the app asks the user to select the University they are attending. The app has a super friendly user interface that way every user can easily navigate through the different pages.

__

After selecting your University, you will be brought to the Log In page. Here the user will log into the app using their University log in credentials. The app is directly connected to the University and will automatically know which student/faculty member is parking, along with the lot and spot # after the user has parked.

__

The Lot Select page shows which lots are provided by the University, and how many open spots are available in each lot. The lots will be labeled by the actual name of that specific lot on campus. The user can choose which lot is most convenient for them.

__

After selecting the lot that is most convenient, the Spot page will pop up which shows which specific spots are open in that lot. The app will show the floor number first if the lot is a garage, followed by the spot number. This helps the user know exactly where the open spots are.

__

Once the user has found their open spot and select that spot, they will then be prompted to scan the QR Code with their phone camera. The QR codes are located on the signs in front of each parking spot. Scanning the code will assign that specific user to that specific spot.

__

Once the user has scanned the QR code, the spot confirmation page will appear. Here is where the user can confirm the spot number, the time their reservation is starting and also type their license plate number. Once everything in the box is accurate, click “Reserve Spot.”

__

After clicking to reserve the spot, the reservation confirmed page will show up. Here the user can see that they have reserved their spot. They are also prompted to click the “End Reservation” button when they leave and that’s it!

Hello visitors, my name is Riley Driscoll, and a few classmates and I came up with this app prototype for a project for MC4328. This is my personal touch on the app itself, but the idea was thought of with my group. Hope you liked it!
